It’s no wonder Infinity Ward would want to bring it back. It’s a legitimate strategy! But Rust was generally favoured by most Modern Warfare 2 players. I liked the wide-open maps where I could camp. It is the smallest map in Modern Warfare 2 and a personal least-favourite of your ol’ pal Zane. The play space is an oil yard in an Afghanistan desert. It was a relatively small map in a box-shaped fenced area. While reusing past maps is not new, nostalgia is exciting.įor new fans to the CoD series, Rust was a map from 2009’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. From Modern Warfare 2, there is evidence that Rust has been or will be used. It turns out that there are assets from a past Call of Duty map that may end up as a Modern Warfare map. As mentioned above, the playlist that stuck out most was the 1v1 Rust playlist, lovingly called “1v1 Me Bro!” Interestingly, Infinity Ward also recently made the announcement in a blog post that the Reinforcement Game Mode will make a return from the title it originated in, being Call of Duty: Ghosts.Fans learned quite a bit from the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare beta recently. Infinity Ward took to Twitter yesterday to briefly share some of the tweaks and changes that were made to the online playlists and game modes for Modern Warfare in the coming week.

Along with that new playlist, Infinity Ward announced a few other changes like the removal of the Valentine’s double XP playlists and some new 24/7 playlists. This means that players can duke it out with each other one-on-one on perhaps the most famous 1v1 map in the entire franchise’s history. Along with several other updates to Modern Warfare, a 1v1 playlist is coming and exclusively features the Rust map. In fact, last week the next playlist update teased a 1v1 mode coming to the classic Modern Warfare 2 map Rust which was recently added to the game at the start of Season 2. With Season Two just in the beginning of its run, Modern Warfare still has plenty of updates and surprises left in store for fans to look forward to as the season continues on. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare just finished its Valentine’s celebrations last week which featured some double XP events in select playlists and game modes.
